How to makeblackboard paint - Paint (of any color or type) and some (you can make your own paint in hard times Click Here for PDF) - Non-Sanded Tile Grout or plaster of paris (but a prepper side note Cement can be used to you can even take the time to ground down a small piece if sideways to make it) - Simply mix 1 cup of paint and 2 Tablespoons of grout. AND you have chalkboard paint. And sheet-rock is every where and makes excellent chalk. Even if you do not want to grab the ready made paint. Keep a jar of the grout or plaster in you prep's The uses may not be at the top of must haves in a STHF situation, but a need to get the world back in order. This can turn plywood into a : - School board - Community board - War board......(which reminds me of the walking dead when Morgan had a map on the wall).
- Even to mark reusable jars and containers
- Make smaller boards for kids - Make smaller ones to carry with you with directions or what ever list you may need, Even to just write down things you noticed along the way

Yes I am the queen of kitchen accidents. And I having to be the one that cooks for Christmas, I am going to get at least one burn over the next week. STOP LAUGHING!!
So this makes a great topic for my Christmas post.
This is for minor burns.
First remove what ever caused the burn from the skin and remove clothes or jewelry that maybe in the area of the burn. Place the area in water right away (not icy!) room temp. Apply an anesthetic and wrap in gauze or bandaid. If in pain now is the time to take ibuprofen or aspirin. If there is a blister do not break because that can lead to infection.
Some home remedies are:
Honey or yogurt can help with the burns healing. Aloe vera does to.
But did you know that a piece of onion over the burnt area really helps with stopping the pain! Or try pouring diluted vinegar on it, this helps it heal faster.
Or what about applying egg whites, that truly helps!
And my fav. soaking it in milk....ahhhh trust it brings relief!
I remember my grams saying to put butter on it...the few times I did that it hurt like HECK! not sure why she did that.

It is that time of year were we all start thinking about heat. Heat, if the power goes out. Heat, if the cost sky rockets (not that it is not already). This is a major issue! A life issue in some parts. You can have a simple propane heater that can be used as a temporary fix. Propane can run out. Just as with generators. Gas can run out. Installing a fireplace or wood stove is another fix. All can be costly to do with fees and zoning ect. So we all put it off and hope this will never be an issue.
Having a plan for the unknown is a part of prepping. These are some ideas that can get heat up and running in your home if you are in dire straights.

BUT....here is an example of how a make shift one is (see Pic below) ....for emergency's. Not as pretty as the others but it does show how simple it can be. And what kind of supply's you may want laying around for a just in case situation.

This is cool , made from coffee cans....a mini heater! No info on how to do it. I looked for it. But with the above info and this. I am sure your creative juices are flowing!

Masonry heater/ stoves
Now this is kind of the same idea...but a lot more complicated.
Masonry stoves are heating stoves developed in medieval Europe, or
even earlier. Some sources are mentioning some kind of similar Roman
stoves.
It is a wood burning stove with high efficiency and high thermal
mass.
Because of that mass it can accumulate heat in the fireplace and the
result is a great efficiency because most of the wood gases are burnt.
It is an efficient ecological alternative to ordinary wood burning
stoves.

Solar cans Solar Air Heat
Now I know people look at this and think it is cheesy and will never work. I have seen it and it does totally work! Some kids camping on our green over the winter built it and it heated a large tent area. I also spoke with a kid who's parents have the original CLICK HERE set up in every window of thier house that gets sun. He said they very rarelyuse the heat now.
This is an easy easy easy one to make. I am doing this one for my winter green house.

Some basics about couponing to build your stockpile a little cheaper.
There are thousand of sights that help you figure out the best deals. Couponers call them matchups. Try typing into google search "coupon matchups for _____________ " (for what ever store you shop at). You will come up with tons of sites. I seem to find the best deals at the pharmacies. Now keep in mind that you are not going to do all your shopping the week to week way.
There are 3 main sites to print coupons and you can print a coupon 2 times per computer. If you have 2 computers you can print 4....I work in an office...no desk is safe from me printing a coupon I really want :)
....and another great source is printable deals. They post a new coupon when they come out. I check this a few times a day from all over the web.
Also your Sunday paper (I always buy at least 2 because many deals come in two's) I actually buy the Saturday paper in my area, because they are cheaper and they have the same coupons. Your local one may not, but if you check papers like the Boston Globe, NY Times their Saturdays do. Many local free paper have them to. But don't get greedy. Someone in my area was taking all the papers. And the paper stopped putting them in.
DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY because you will go back to them in weeks to come.(meaning, you do not use that so you don't need the coupon, but if you can get it for free why not get it?)
Many coupons have a set print limit...20,000, 100,000 what ever it is, when it is reached you will not be able to print it. So print it right away if it is something you want.
It really takes a few months to get the hang of it... But I have saved $1000's of dollars. Don't give up and ask other couponers questions they are always very helpful! (that is why I am a regular at weusecoupons.com). They also get the flyers weeks ahead of time and scan them in, so you can plan your trips.
One other note. Couponing is also a re-learning how to shop. I shop WAY ahead of time. And as preppers we all, already do this. EX: getting 2 month of one thing because you are getting it for half the price now. Stockpile baby!!!!
