Herb of the Week Mullein

Mullein(Verbascum thapsus L.)

A large plant with light green leaves with elongated flower cluster. This cluster is packed with small yellow flowers and rests atop the terminal shoot of a robust wooly stem. The similarly wooly, large, oblong leaves of this wildflower begin at the base of the stem  and alternates up.

Herb of the Week - Chicory

 Chicory ( Cichorium intybus L).

When flowering, chicory has a tough, groove, and more or less a hairy stem, from 10 to 40 inches tall. The leaves are stalked, lanceolate and unlobed.  The flowers are usually bright blue, sometimes white or pink.

Herb of the Week - Queen Anne's Lace

Queen Anne's Lace can grow 4 feet tall. The leaves are 2 to 8 inches long and fern-like. We all know the flowers, which are tiny and white, blooming in lacy, flat-topped clusters. Each flower has a dark, purplish center.

Greater Burdock is a tall plant that can grow up to 9 feet It has large leaves.
The flowers are purple and grouped in clusters. The flowers appear in mid-summer, from July to September. The fleshy tap-roots can grow up to 3 feet.

 Garlic Mustard ( Alliaria petiolata)

 It is an invasive weed but the usda does classify's it as an herb. It is banned in my state (but it grows like crazy in the park near my house.
This erect European herb of open woodlands and disturbed soil has dark green, heart-shaped, scallop-edged, deeply veined, long-stalked basal leaves that grow up to 5" across.
