It can:

Repel Insects
Spray bees or wasps to kill them
Relieve a fever -Use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment
Will kill all odor causing bacteria from your feet
Disinfectant cleaner
Even an alternative shampoo
Fuel
Fire starter fluid

So why learn to make the easiest, cheapest booze???? The above list shows why!

Now I have not made this but will be over the next few week...wine on the other hand I have made and this looks similar.....all but the fact that this you MUST water down! I would water it down ALOT! to test it at first. SEE further warnings at the bottom of the article.

How to Make Homemade Hard Liquor
FOR INFORMATIONAL USE ONLY

"Hard liquor" refers to distilled spirits which generally average about 40 percent alcohol by volume. Common hard liquors, including whiskey, gin, rum and vodka, are made from corn, barley, rye, sugar cane and potatoes. This article teaches you how to make potato vodka, which is a fairly easy hard liquor to make at home. If you would like to experiment with this recipe, try substituting sweet potatoes for white potatoes. This recipe makes about a quarter of a gallon, or one liter, of liquor.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 pounds potatoes (or sweet potatoes)
  • Purified water
  • Pressure cooker
  • Pot or reflux home distillery kit (click here how to make a pot still) Note this is almost exactly like one of the salt water purifiers I posted about Click here to see)
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • 1 teaspoon of yeast (brewer's or baker's)
  • Funnel
  • 5 cotton balls
  • Activated carbon (you can get this cheap at the pet store, it is the charcoal for fish tanks)
  • Collection container (glass seal-able bottle is best to prevent strange flavors)

  6. Good simple recipe. However, I would recommend discarding the first bit of the distilled spirit or use for cleaning. It contains Acetone, Methanol, and other stuff you don't want to drink. This is why some Shine is considered poison. ;-)

  7. Wow, but this is good stuff, thanks. I learned how to clean a stove top still before I was in kindergarten, then how to make 'jack with it. 'Uncle' was a WWI vet with PTSDs, shell shocked they called it, and lived on the edge of our fields in a small shack he and Dad built. He was not actually related (he was white), but we help the elders where we can. He learned how to do this from his father, and by God but it always had to be the very best or he'd drink it himself :) No, I was not allowed samples. He sold it by the quart or the gallon, but always paid off the mayor, and chief of police in Bethlehem, PA, beforehand. Everything had to be perfect, to be spotless, and he never had extra from any batch.
